The world premiere went down on Sunday, October 11th @ 9PM (EST&PST) on the Discovery Channel.

UpThink was very privileged with the opportunity to create a majority of the animations for the documentary, Discovering Ardi. We worked closely with our good friends (and client), David & Rod Paul @ Primary Pictures to complete the project. More information on the documentary can be viewed on Discovery’s website.

In 2008, UpThink created a quick logo tag for German based in-line skate manufacture, USD. The unique 3D paint splatter animation was executed using particle based, fluid simulation dynamics with RF.

While many photographers are guarded about their secrets, Matthew reveals his is an almost teasing way. Knowing that no one will replicate such complex machines and custom computer software. Our approach to the video was to mimic his approach to his work; clean, simple, and to the point.

Upthink Gets Phantom Certified

After falling in love with high speed videography in late 2008, Upthink decided to invest in becoming one of a few certified Phantom technicians in the Southeast. Because the camera is so complicated to operate, rental houses such as Abel Cine Tech require that a trained tech accompany it on any shoot. This means any production in the area can now use the Upthink Lab to get gorgeous slow motion footage. Check out Abel’s site to learn more about any of the Phantom cameras.
